Hey all you singers and musicians. Our recent experience at Pyrate Llama Recording Studio was outstanding. In the past I have recorded in small studios in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Texas and Tennessee. In my experience, Pyrate Llama was the best of all of them. Jon not only makes you feel comfortable, he is an excellent engineer. His experienced ear is a big, big plus and a time saver. We all know time is money in the studio. Jon drives Pro-tools like a German sports car taking you to a finished, radio quality product in about 1/3 the time of other studios I've experienced. The room is pleasantly funky with old wood and a solid foundation creating a sonically warm recording environment. We are looking forward to our next sessions with Jon. Take the drive and give him a chance, you'll be glad you did.
Goldfire Dance Band
We were looking for a studio to record our first CD. I found John on Craigslist and booked a date to record. I had never met him before and really didn't know what to expect. When we arrived we were greeted by the dog and the llamas. We went into the barn and there it was, an old boat that didn't look like it had seen the water in forty years. Then into the next room and alas, recording equipment and a woodstove. Since money was an issue for us we thought tracking it live would be the best for us, but it's not the norm. Our intention was to produce a demo to help people find out about this fledgling trio from Portland. What we ended up with is a perfect studio quality recording. I thought we sounded pretty good, until I heard what Jon can do with the equipment he has. Check out the music, I hope you're amazed too. Don't think it isn't worth the drive from town. Although it isn't a big fancy high dollar, high fallutin' situation, the product is as pure as it can be. So in other words if you want a premium recording that you can afford without a second mortage this is the place to go.
Thank you so much Jon!!!!
If you're looking for a fair priced, good quality studio, this is the place to go. We saw Jon's craigslist ad, had no idea what we were getting into. But Jon made our band feel really comfortable, and laid back. We appreciate the time, the effort, and all the feedback and suggestions he gave us throughout our recording process. Jon is someone who clearly takes pride in his work, and wants nothing else but to produce the best possible product he can. We got a great quality cd at a great price. We've recorded at different studios before, but this one is by far the best we've been too. So if you're looking for a laid back environment, with quality production, and good rates, this is your place.
Thanks a lot dude! It was a great experience, and we'll be sure to be coming back very soon! Hopefully we'll be doing our full length next time!
Not only was I pleased with the recordings from Pyrate Llama, I also enjoyed the entire process. Jon never made me feel pressured or hurried, and the result was a great recording.
